Update regarding yesterday’s bus incident:

The bus incident occurred at approximately 2:48PM on September 4. CFSD administrators learned of the incident at approximately 3:15PM, and we immediately began investigating. Student safety is always our top priority, and we have conducted a thorough review of yesterday’s incident to ensure we are doing all we can to keep students safe. Based on our investigation, we believe that the incident was caused by a bus striking a small object or curb as it turned at Grinstead and Adams Streets. A review of the bus’s video camera footage did not show any apparent injuries to any of the students on the bus.

There is minor damage to the rear passenger side of the bus. The video footage confirms that bus passengers experienced a bounce consistent with striking a curb but did not fall from their seats or hit the windows or ceiling.

When questioned by CFSD about the incident, the bus driver stated that he believed he hit a curb, and the video footage confirms that he continued the route as usual. A regular bus stop is located very near the incident location. A group of students exited the bus at the bus stop, and the bus resumed its route.

CFSD personnel spoke with family members of several students from the bus who chose to have their children evaluated at OCMC. We have spoken with other families today to answer questions and address the concerns those families are understandably feeling after hearing news of an incident on their child’s bus. We also know that information can take on a life of its own as it travels through the community. Our goal is to ensure proper safety procedures were followed and to provide accurate information in a timely manner to families and our community.

Good evening. We are investigating the incident that happened this afternoon near the intersection of Grinstead and Adams involving a Camden Fairview school bus. From the information we have gathered so far, all students are now with their families and there is minor damage to the bus. The safety of our students is our top priority. We are cooperating with local law enforcement and will continue conducting our own district investigation. Thank you.

Home games begin this week! Remember, the Clear Bag Policy is in effect at all CFSD athletic venues.

In an effort to provide a safe environment and improve security, Camden Fairview School District has implemented a Clear Bag Policy that limits the size and type of bags that may be brought into stadiums, gymnasiums and other athletic venues. The policy applies to events at district athletic venues ONLY and does not impact the backpacks students' use daily. For more information and FAQs, please click here.

Bags that are permitted include:

Tote bags that are clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC and do not exceed 12” x 6” x 12”
One-gallon clear plastic freezer bags
Small clutch bags with or without a handle or strap, no larger than 4.5” x 6.5” (approximately the size of a hand)

Bags not permitted:

Backpacks, printed plastic bags, fanny packs, purses, reusable grocery totes, mesh or straw bags, duffle bags, large totes, and camera or binocular cases.
Diaper bags are not allowed. Items normally carried in a diaper bag must be put into a clear plastic bag for venue entry.
Exceptions will be made for credentialed media and medically necessary items after proper inspection at a gate by the respective gate supervisor.

There are no provisions available to store or safeguard any prohibited bags. CFSD is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

Update, August 22 at 8:12AM: Good news this morning: phone and internet service has been restored at CFSD! We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding during the outage on August 20 and 21.

Good morning. Phones and internet continue to be down throughout the district due to a service interruption that is impacting Arkansas and Texas.

Each building has a hot-spot connection to allow families to communicate with us through email if needed. In your email, please include your child’s first and last name as well as a short description of your issue. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
