Camden Fairview School Board Hires Armstrong as New Superintendent

In a December 8, 2025, special meeting of the Camden Fairview School Board, the Board voted unanimously to appoint Interim Superintendent Tara Armstrong as Superintendent of Schools, effective immediately.

This decision follows the hiring process outlined by the Board earlier this fall. Applications were accepted through November 27, and Board members reviewed all submissions during a December 2 meeting. During Monday’s meeting, Armstrong participated in an interview with the Board before the final vote.

Armstrong has served as Interim Superintendent since July 2025, following the resignation of then-Superintendent Johnny Embry. At the time, the district noted that “Mrs. Armstrong brings a strong background in educational leadership, a deep understanding of our district’s values, and a clear vision for continued growth and excellence. Her transition into this role ensures stability and continued momentum as we move forward.”

Reflecting on her new role, Armstrong shared her gratitude with CFSD staff, saying, “I am honored by the Board’s unanimous confidence and support. It has been my privilege to serve as Interim Superintendent since July. Over these past six months, what has stood out most is the dedication, care, and resilience I see in our classrooms, offices, buses, cafeterias, and campuses every day.”

She continued, “I know firsthand that this district is a special place thanks to each of you - the people who dedicate yourselves to supporting our students and one another every day.”

Looking ahead, Armstrong emphasized the district’s continued focus on safety, staff support, and academic excellence.

“As we move forward together, my commitment remains the same: to support staff in the essential work they do; to ensure safe, supportive learning environments; to strengthen our focus on high-quality instruction and continued academic growth; and to keep our attention on what matters most: every Cardinal, every day.”

Armstrong brings 27 years of experience in public education, including service as an elementary principal, Director of Early Childhood Education and Special Education Services, Assistant Superintendent, and most recently, Interim Superintendent.

This afternoon, a Camden Fairview bus was involved in an accident in front of McDonald's. No students were on the bus. We're thankful to share that the CFSD employee driving the bus was not injured.

This incident will not impact our regular bus routes.

P3 Campus connects students, parents, staff, counselors, and law enforcement to make sure time-sensitive matters are addressed quickly and appropriately. Reports are monitored 24/7, and users receive updates when action has been taken, reinforcing that their voice and concern matter.

Students can attach photos, videos, or screenshots and communicate securely with a trained responder. These features help ensure swift support and intervention when safety is at risk.

The P3 Campus app is free for all CFSD families through the Apple App Store or Google Play.

Students may also access the P3 Campus website on district electronic devices during the school day if needed.

Students can use P3 Campus to report any situation that could threaten their safety or the safety of others.

Cardinals, Are You Interested in Trap Shooting Sports?

Camden Fairview students in 6th–12th grade are invited to join our Trap Shooting Team! The season runs February 1 – July 31, with practices on Wednesdays after school and Sunday afternoons.

Students will need a Hunter Education Card and either a 12-gauge or 20-gauge shotgun before the season begins. (A 20-gauge may be easier for younger shooters.)

Sign-ups open in early January. For more information, contact Mrs. Edwards at ledwards@cfcards.net.

Reminders for All Cardinal Athletic Events:

Admission is $6 for all home athletic events. Athletic Passes are available for sale at Central Office (625 Clifton Street). All CFSD employees have free entry with their district ID badge.

Clear Bag Policy. Camden Fairview School District has implemented a Clear Bag Policy that limits the size and type of bags that may be brought into stadiums, gymnasiums and other athletic fields.* Prohibited items include but are not limited to purses larger than a 4.5” x 6.5” clutch bag, coolers, briefcases, backpacks, fanny packs, grocery bags, cinch bags, luggage of any kind, computer bags, and camera bags, or any bag larger than the permissible size. For more information, view the full CLEAR BAG POLICY.

Food & Drink. No outside food or drink (including tumblers) permitted.

No Pets. Only registered service animals are allowed.

Student Conduct. K-5 grade students must be supervised by an adult at all CFSD athletic events. All students, home and visiting, are expected to be on their best behavior while attending any school event. Students will be removed from events if they are involved in any fights, act disrespectfully toward administrators or other school personnel, or if any prohibited items are found on them or in their vehicle. All students must be picked up within 20 minutes of the end of any event

CFHS Cardinal Baseball Tryouts - This Week!

CFHS Cardinal Baseball Tryouts are happening this Tuesday and Wednesday at the CFHS baseball field. Tryouts start at 3:00 PM and will last until finished.

Tryout Schedule:

Tuesday | 3PM: Students who did not make the team last year
Wednesday | 3PM: Students who were on the team last year

All participants should have a current physical on file, wear athletic attire and shoes (cleats and turf shoes), and bring your glove (and bat if you have one).

Tryouts will move to the Multi if weather requires.

Admission is $6 for all home athletic events. Athletic Passes are available for sale at Central Office (625 Clifton Street). All CFSD employees have free entry with their district ID badge.

Clear Bag Policy. Camden Fairview School District has implemented a Clear Bag Policy that limits the size and type of bags that may be brought into stadiums, gymnasiums and other athletic fields.* Prohibited items include but are not limited to purses larger than a 4.5” x 6.5” clutch bag, coolers, briefcases, backpacks, fanny packs, grocery bags, cinch bags, luggage of any kind, computer bags, and camera bags, or any bag larger than the permissible size. Food & Drink. No outside food or drink (including tumblers) permitted.

No Pets. Only registered service animals are allowed.

Student Conduct. K-5 grade students must be supervised by an adult at all CFSD athletic events. All students, home and visiting, are expected to be on their best behavior while attending any school event. Students will be removed from events if they are involved in any fights, act disrespectfully toward administrators or other school personnel, or if any prohibited items are found on them or in their vehicle. All students must be picked up within 20 minutes of the end of any event

Announcements & Reminders:

New clear/mesh backpack policy starts Tuesday at CFHS and CFMS:

The district-provided mesh backpacks are being delivered to Camden Fairview High School and Camden Fairview Middle School. These backpacks will be distributed to students on Monday, November 10.

The updated Grades 6–12 Backpack Policy will go into effect on Tuesday, November 11. Beginning on Tuesday, all CFHS and CFMS students will be required to carry clear or mesh backpacks.

What Families Need to Know:

Every student in grades 6–12 will receive a district-provided mesh backpack at no cost.
Families may also choose to purchase a clear or mesh backpack of their choice for their student.
Students may also carry: small purses, makeup bags, and athletic bags. Athletic bags are small or medium-sized bag used by student-athletes to carry a change of clothes or athletic shoes on practice days. These bags will be checked when students enter the building.
Rolling backpacks are not allowed due to space and safety concerns.

Morning arrival procedures, including bag checks and use of metal detectors, will continue to be followed consistently at both schools.

This Week is a 1-Hour Early Out Wednesday!

On Wednesday, all Camden Fairview schools will dismiss one hour early to allow teachers additional time for professional development and collaboration.

Hometown Heroes: Veterans Day Brunch at CFHS

Camden Fairview High School invites all veterans from our community to a special Veterans Day Brunch in your honor. Join us as we celebrate and thank you for your service!

The 8th Annual Turkey Teacher Food Drive is underway now!

From Nov 1 – 19, help us fill our Backpack Program shelves - and crown your child’s

teacher the new Turkey Teacher Champion!

Every donation earns points for your student’s class.
Double points for most-needed items like peanut butter crackers, ramen, and granola bars.
$1 = 5 points when given through your school’s PTO.
All items must be individually packaged.

This year, local businesses, churches, and civic groups can join the fun by becoming Turkey Teacher Grade-Level Sponsors.
